Asian Love of Wine
Tuesday, May 31st, 2011The Chinese are now demonstrating a heightened love of fine wine, more than they ever have before. HK is swiftly becoming the center of the wine trading industry, as more and more Chinese are choosing to purchase fine wines. It is even becoming a concern for some in the Western World, as there are now less vintages available for purchase in some areas outside of China.
At a recent wine auction that was held in China, some of the country’s elitists came to gain from and experience the wine industry greats. Many people did not even understand the guidelines of wine bidding, and they needed to be taught prior to commencing the auction. Shortly after, costs for bottles of fine wine were exploding sky high, and those with deep pockets were taking home some of the best vintages in the world for massive profits. It was clear after the intensely successful auction that China now has a taste for the grape. Wine collectors and wineries are growing up all across the land, and shortly China is anticipated to have the largest wine trade in the whole world.
For Western wine collectors this is causing much excitement. If China reigns over the wine world, less fine wine is going to be imported and provided to other bits of the world, including America. However , there are others who are delighted about such a high demand for wine in China. For those collectors seeking to have 1 or 2 bottles taken off their hands, or who would enjoy making some extra money, they see this transition as a possibility. As an example, selling a rare or really old bottle of wine to somebody in China could mean much more money than it might collect if selling the same bottle in America, or even Europe. Whatever the situation one thing is clear : China has developed a new-found love for wine!
